ATTIC RESTORATION SERVICES - 5 Steps to Tranquility
Restoring your Home & Castle is what we live to do...

Step #1
Schedule Trapping and Eviction. Nothing can be done until your nuisance wildlife is trapped and evicted from your home premises. Regardless of where you live in Northern Illinois, we can either trap your problem animals or find someone locally who is a qualified professional.
We work together with many trappers, from the Indiana border all the way up to the Wisconsin border, and as far west as Rockford, Illinois.
So, if your tired of looking and calling, and want to schedule a trapper now, call us at 224-267-5550.
Step #2
Schedule an Inspection for Animal Damages to your home. Once you have started the trapping and eviction, there is no need to wait further. At this point, your trapping is now underway, it is time to schedule a Level 1 Inspection for Animal Damages for your home.
We will send a qualified, seasoned professional to inspect your home for animal damages and write up a detailed and accurate estimate of your damages.
We then take over the process and work directly together with your insurance adjuster, so that you don't have to. This is time consuming and can be emotionally draining. The good news is we have worked together with hundreds of adjusters from many insurance companies and can help you get a satisfactory response from your insurance company.

There is a brief pause between steps 2 & 3. After your initial home inspection for animal damages, Mayhem Insurance Restoration will submit a detailed written estimate to your Insurance company. Usually your insurance company will send out an adjuster to verify the damages and estimate. This usually happens within a few days to a week. I will then meet with the adjuster at your home to walk them through the damages to your home. Upon inspection, the adjuster sometimes cuts a check to the homeowner on the spot, or mails it out in the next day or two. When we know from your insurance compan y the check has been cut and mailed, it is now time to schdule your restoration. Restorations are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. So, if your anxious to schedule the work, you can make a deposit and down payment for your restoration from the beginning of the process.
Usually from the time of your first inspection to the time your home is fully restored is anywhere between 2-4 weeks...

Step #3
Clean out of damaged attic spaces. We use a high quality and high powered industrial vacuum system to remove the feces and blown insulation from your attic. This carries the feces from your attic above, all the way to our truck in the driveway, safely keeping it from your home living areas. And the BATT or Rolled insulation is bagged and removed manually.
When all of the debris, and ruined insulation is removed, we then perform further inspections to find any hidden or undocumented damage. If we find more damage, we will take pictures and video, and call the adjuster to the claim and submit a supplement to your insurance company, which usually gets approved on the spot, especially when the job is underway.

Step #4
Disinfecting and sealing of entire attic spaces. When everything from the attic has been removed, and final inspections have been performed for more damages, the next step of the process is to spray the entire attic with powerful disinfectants and deodorants.
Once this is done, it is given time to dry while we get the attic ready for painting. In order to minimize the possibility of obnoxious odors from raccoon urine which soaked into your ceiling joists, we paint the entire attic floor area, drywall and rafters, with a white anti-bacterial paint.
When this dries, we then install a baffling system into your attic to allow it to breath properly, and to minimize the possibility of mold or mildew growth in the attic spaces.

Step #5
Once the painting is done and the baffling system installed, the attic is ready for the final step of the process, replacing the insulation. In the State of Illinois, there is a State code which requires a vapor barrier of some sort be installed to prevent mold and mildew from growing on or under the insulation.
We meet this requirement by installing an R11, 4 inch BATT insulation with a paper face.
Once this is installed, we then complete the replacement of insulation with the appropriate amount of insulation. If you had R38 prior, we replace it with an R38. If R30, then R30. This is the best time for the homeowner to choose upgrade plans for attic insulation.Replacing the Insulation:
